 The 2018 Conference on Engineering and  Architecture Design Education (EADE 2018) was organised under the joint  patronage of the Faculty of Architecture at Slovak University of Technology in  Bratislava, Bratislava, Slovakia (STU), in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture, Cracow University of  Technology, Kraków, Poland (CUT), and the World Institute for Engineering and  Technology Education (WIETE). It was held from 11 to 14 June 2018 in the STU’s Faculty  of Architecture in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Conference commenced with an  Opening Ceremony attended by the Conference Patron, Professor Robert Redhammer,  Rector of the University, who delivered the Opening Welcome on behalf of the  host institution. The Faculty’s management was represented by the  Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, A/Professor Lubica Vitkova, Conference  Honorary Chairman, and Professor Robert Špaček, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of  Architecture; President of the WIETE International Academic Advisory Committee  (WIETE-IAAC) and the Conference General Co-Chairman. The Faculty of  Architecture at Cracow University of Technology was represented by Professor  Grażyna Schneider-Skalska, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and Professor  Sabina Kuc, the Conference General Co-Chairman and Vice-President of the  WIETE-IAAC. The WIETE was represented  by it Directors, Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski and Mrs Dorota I. Pudlowski.  Several introductory and welcome addresses were presented by the Conference  officials. The Conference attracted more than 40 participants from seven countries  worldwide and provided the participants with opportunities to interact on all  aspects of engineering and architecture design education. Such interactions included  team work, panel debates, group discussions, student presentations, and were  led and aided by several eminent international keynote speakers, leaders of the  specific areas of interest. A seminar for PhD students held on Wednesday, 13  June 2018 comprised two parts: presentations of progress with their PhD  dissertations by several STU students, and an interactive seminar on how to write and how to quote prepared  and conducted by Mrs Dorota Pudlowski and Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski. The Conference Banquet was held on the same  day and Professor Wacław  Celadyn,  Director of the Institute of Building Design, in the Faculty of Architecture at  Cracow University of Technology, Kraków, Poland, was presented  with a diploma by WIETE Director Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski, certifying his  election as a WIETE Fellow. On the recommendation of  the WIETE-IAAC, a Fellowship membership grade was  established in February 2012. This is the WIETE’s highest grade of membership  and is awarded to prominent academics with an international involvement in  engineering and technology education. The citation mentioned that the recipient of  this honour received it ...in recognition of his distinguished contributions  to engineering and technology education, outstanding achievements in the  globalisation of engineering and technology education through the activities of  the WIETE, and particularly for exceptional service to the WIETE. We congratulate Professor Celadyn on this award, and trust  that he will continue with his strong input to global engineering and  architecture education, as well as providing his unequivocal support to the  WIETE and its activities.    |
