  12 September 2018

The Seminar gala banquet was held on Wednesday, 12 September 2018 in the rooftop restaurant at Titania Hotel in Athens, which has marvellous views on the Acropolis. Representatives of two partner institutions of the WIETE received WIETE occasional awards, presented by Professor Robert Špaček, President of the WIETE International Academic Advisory Committee (WIETE-IAAC), and assisted by Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski, WIETE Director. The recipients were Associate Professor Ľubica Ilkovičová of the Faculty of Architecture at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Bratislava, Slovakia. The citation attached to the sterling silver coin featuring a dog reads: Celebrating the 6th Mediterranean Seminar on Engineering & Technology Education in the Year of the Dog, this WIETE gift is presented in recognition of your achievement in engineering and technology education and, in particular, the organisation of the 2018 EADE Conference.

Dr Aji Prasetia Wibawa of the State University of Malang, Malang, Indonesia, received the second silver coin award with the following citation: Celebrating the 6th Mediterranean Seminar on Engineering & Technology Education in the Year of the Dog, this WIETE gift is presented in recognition of your achievement in facilitating the partnership between WIETE and the Faculty of Engineering at the State University of Malang, Malang, East Java, Indonesia.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the WIETE Fellowship diploma to Professor Sabina Kuc of the Faculty of Architecture at Cracow University of Technology, Kraków, Poland, by Professor Robert Špaček, President of the WIETE-IAAC, who was assisted by Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski.

On the recommendation of the Executive of the WIETE-IAAC, a membership grade called Fellowship, was established in February 2012. This is the WIETE’s highest membership grade, awarded to prominent international academics involved in engineering and technology education. This time, Professor Sabina Kuc was elected to be a WIETE Fellow. The citation mentioned that the recipient of this highest WIETE honour received it ... in recognition of her distinguished contributions to engineering and technology education, outstanding achievements in the globalisation of engineering and technology education through the activities of the WIETE, and, in particular, for exceptional service to the WIETE.

We wish to congratulate Professor Kuc on this distinguished award and thank her for her tremendous support in establishing the partnership with her Faculty and her strong input to the life of the WIETE.
