Following her departure from La Trobe University, Dorota I. Pudlowski has accepted the position of Managing Director and co-proprietor of the World Institute for Engineering and Technology Education (WIETE). With her long and outstanding career in research and higher education institutions in Australia, Dorota will bring to the WIETE her knowledge and expertise in communication, information brokerage and academic impact measurement so vital for the efficient operation of the WIETE.

Dorota’s professional career commenced in 1983 when she joined the Library at the Radio-physics Division of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. After three years of service, she joined the University Library at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, where she worked in various professional positions for nearly 17 years. In 2004, she was appointed as Metadata Services Librarian at the La Trobe University Library in Melbourne, Victoria, and was responsible for the management of a large cataloguing section. With the restructure of the Library in 2009, she moved on to become the Library’s Quality and Planning Manager.

Dorota graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (modern languages) from Macquarie University in Sydney, and completed her postgraduate education with the Graduate Diploma of Librarianship at the then Riverina-Murray Institute of Education, now Charles Sturt University in Wagga-Wagga, New South Wales. Five years of study in the Institute of Polish Philology at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, preceded her migration to Australia.

In her new role, she will be looking after WIETE’s publishing, communication and information needs, and she will also be assisting the WIETE Director in the day-to-day operation of the WIETE.
