| On 1 July 2024, a Vice-President of the WIETE  International Academic Advisory Committee (WIETE-IAAC), Professor Lucyna Nyka,  Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk  University of Technology (Gdańsk Tech), Gdańsk, Poland, took over the presidency of this  Committee, becoming its sixth President.
 
 Lucyna Nyka (PhD, DSc) is a full Professor  in the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk Tech. Her research interests focus on  historical hydrographies, blue-green solutions for cities, water-related  architecture and urban landscapes. She is involved in several transdisciplinary  research studies on the urban environment and re-naturalisation of cities. She  has published extensively on the topics of her research, and is the author,  co-author and expert on many European research projects. She was recently  involved in the H2020 SOS Climate Waterfront project focused on linking  research and innovation on waterfront studies to face climate change.
 
 Prof. Nyka is a member of the Architecture  and Urbanism Committee at the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN); for several  years was one of the Vice-Presidents of the WIETE-IAAC, based in Melbourne,  Australia, and is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Valencia  International Biennial of Research in Architecture (VIBRArch), to be held in November  2024.
 
 Most recently, in a year-long celebrations  of the 120th anniversary of the foundation of Gdańsk Tech (the current name of  an old technical institution), Prof. Nyka was an instigator and one of the  three Guest Editors of a special edition of the WIETE international journal,  the World Transactions on Engineering and Technology Education, Vol.22, No.2,  which was dedicated to the Faculty of Architecture. Furthermore, together with Professor  Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of Gdańsk Tech, was a  Guest Editor of a special edition of the WIETE’s Global Journal of Engineering  Education (GJEE), Vol.26, No.2. This issue of the GJEE is dedicated to the  whole Gdańsk Tech to demonstrate university-wide activities, developments and  achievements in engineering and technology education; however, one can also  observe a considerable input from the Faculty of Architecture.
 
 In welcoming the new President, we wish to  thank Professor Maria Jolanta Żychowska for her year-long presidency, and welcome her as the  WIETE-IAAC Immediate Past President.
