| On the recommendation of the Executive of the  WIETE International Academic Advisory Committee (WIETE-IAAC), a membership  grade called Fellowship, was established in February 2012. This is the WIETE’s  highest membership grade, awarded to prominent international academics involved  in engineering and technology education.
 A  distinguished Australian academic, Prof. Steve Thatcher, Foundation Professor of Aviation and  Development Lead - Aviation, Head  of Aviation at Central  Queensland University, Cairns, Australia, was elected a WIETE Fellow on this  occasion and was presented with his diploma at the Conference Banquet by Prof.  Zenon J. Pudlowski, WIETE Director at the 10th Jubilee WIETE Annual Conference  on Engineering and Technology Education, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on  Wednesday, 20 February 2019.  The citation states that the  recipient of this WIETE honour has received it ...in recognition of his distinguished contributions to engineering and  technology education, outstanding achievements in the globalisation of  engineering and technology education through the activities of the WIETE, and,  in particular, for exceptional service to the WIETE. We would like to congratulate Prof. S. Thatcher  on the award and wish him continuing success with his exceptional input to the  world of engineering and technology, and to thank him unreservedly for his remarkable  contribution to the life and activities of the WIETE.     |
