I am delighted to inform our readers that on 31 October 2022, we received a message from the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology (FA-GUT), Gdańsk, Poland, Professor Lucyna Nyka that in the recent evaluation of scientific work and achievements in scientific disciplines, established by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MSHE) in Poland, and carried out through the Committee on Evaluation of Science (Komisja Ewaluacji Nauki), the Faculty received the highest score - A+! The grades are: A, B+, B and C, whereas grade A+ is a special grade, in the Faculty’s case recognising its input in scientific disciplines in architecture. It is a wonderful news also for the World Institute for Engineering and Technology Education (WIETE) because the Faculty became a member/partner institution of the WIETE on 20 February 2019, during the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the WIETE at its Annual Conference on Engineering and Technology Education, held in Bangkok, Thailand, between 18 and 22 February 2019. Readers may like to learn more about this momentous event at the following WIETE site: http://www.wiete.com.au/wiete_news_item_20.1_Feb_2019.html The FA-GUT has become a very active partner of the WIETE and published many research articles in the WIETE international journals. Specifically, from 2019 to 2021, staff and postgraduate students published three articles in the Global Journal of Engineering Education (GJEE) and close to 40 articles in the World Transactions on Engineering and Technology Education (WTE&TE). These articles have attracted several citations, thus promoting the Faculty’s research and its outcomes in the international arena. It should be mentioned that both WIETE journals are on the MSHE’s list of recognised journals. Furthermore, despite the pick of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Faculty organised the 2020 Conference on Engineering and Architecture Design Education (EADE-2020) in June 2020, a highly successful collaborative venture of four faculties of architecture - partners of the WIETE, under the auspices of the WIETE. Unfortunately, this event envisaged as a face-to-face meeting had to be carried out remotely over the Internet. Readers may wish to read more about this event at the following address: http://www.wiete.com.au/wiete_news_item_16_June_2020.html The WIETE team members were somehow surprised, but first of all delighted, by the content of the message from Professor Nyka, addressed to the WIETE director and his team, which goes as follows: I would like to thank you for publishing many articles authored by researchers from the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology (FA-GUT), in WIETE journals: the World Transactions on Engineering and Technology Education (WTE&TE) and the Global Journal of Engineering Education (GJEE) in the years 2019-2021. These publications brought us remarkable benefits - in the evaluation of our scientific work for the period of 2017and 2021, as we turned out to be the most scientifically strong Faculty of Architecture in Poland and we were the only one to receive the A+ grade. We are excited about this result and at the same know that it is to the great extent, the result of the close co-operation with the WIETE! This co-operation also brought about many other tangible effects in the form of re-formulating the methods of education and broadening perspectives on innovative teaching and research. Of course, we know that there is a lot to be done - first of all, we would like to transpose the reflection on the methods of education into continuous improvement of the quality of courses offered to our students. We would like to continue our pursuit of improving our scientific writing skills and sharing our experiences. Hence, we look forward to furthering our fruitful co-operation with the WIETE! In response to this wonderful message, the WIETE staff, members, associates and sympathisers would like to thank Professor Lucyna Nyka for the words of appreciation, and wish the Faculty many more successes in their research, teaching and community activities. Also, we look forward to our further collaboration to fulfil the WIETE mission of Serving the International Engineering and Technology Community.        |
