| In preparation for the 3rd World  Conference on Technology and Engineering Education on Sunday,  7 September 2014, the Executive of the WIETE  International Academic Advisory Committee (WIETE-IAAC) met in Athens to discuss  academic and organisational matters over a dinner held in a restaurant at  Monastiraki and its beautiful ancient scenery, at the foot of the Acropolis in Athens.
 The meeting was attended by Professor Andrew  Nafalski of the University of South Australia, Adelaide, Australia - President  of the WIETE-IAAC; Professor Promod Vohra, Dean of the College of Engineering  and Engineering Technology of the Northern Illinois University, DeKalb,  Illinois, USA - Vice-President of the WIETE-IAAC; Professor George Metaxas of  the Technological Education Institute of Piraeus-Athens, and Professor Zenon J.  Pudlowski, WIETE Director, accompanied by his wife Dorota. Unfortunately, the third Vice-President of the WIETE-IAAC,  Professor David W.S. Tai of Hungkuang University, Taichung, Taiwan, was  unable to attend the Conference due to other commitments.
 
 Several issues of importance for engineering and  technology education were raised and discussed during the meeting, including  the future research, development and promotional activities of the WIETE. Prof.  Metaxas, local host and organiser, briefed the meeting on the preparations and  programme of the Conference. Also high on the agenda was the future life and  operation of the WIETE, with particular emphasis on attracting young academics  to the activities of the WIETE, and the way in which the engagement of young  academics in engineering and technology can be stimulated and promoted.
