| A field excursion to the Temple of Poseidon and the archaeological site at Sounion located at the southern-most point of the Attica peninsula was an integral part of the 7th WIETE Annual Conference on Engineering and Technology Education. The site is an example of combing art and architecture with technological genius of the ancient world, deeply impressing all the participants. The breath-taking beauty of the ragged coastline and the harmony of the Poseidon Temple attested to the ability of the ancient Greeks to tame the elements and provided an interesting topic for a brainstorming discussion on architecture within the given environment, and how it has reshaped over the centuries. The photo shows the preserved ruins of the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion. |
